I. Isaiah 11:1-2 - The Nature of the Messiah’s Person
A. Verse 1 - He is the Son of David B. Verse 2– He is the Son of God
II. Isaiah 11:3-5 The Nature of the Messiah’s Rule
A. Verse 3a – He will rule in delight of those who fear the Lord B. Verse 3b-4 – He will rule in righteousness and wisdom C. Verse 5 – He will rule in righteousness and faithfulnes
III. Isaiah 11:6-10– The Nature of the Messiah’s Peace -
A. Verses 6-9 - It will establish Peace between men B. Verse 10 – It will establish peace between God and man
IV. Celebrating the Peace of God at Christmas –
A. The Peace which the Messiah brings is understood in the nature of His Person as the Son of God and the Son of Man. B. The Peace which the Messiah brings at Christmas is founded in the absolute nature of His rule. He will judge based on His omniscience, righteous and faithfulness. It will be a judgment based upon His holy nature. C. The Peace which the Messiah brings is able to alter the relationship between God and men. D The Peace which the Messiah brings is able to alter the relationship between men and men.
