IV. Discernment and Faithful Obedience
A. The danger from false teachers and teaching is an ever present danger for the church in every age. B. Discernment takes place when we become so familiar with truth as it is revealed in the Word of God, that anything which compromises the teaching of Scripture, the glory of God, or the promotion of godliness will cause us to question its validity. C. Discernment also results in a conviction that we are to live in accordance with the truth we proclaim. To do less is hypocrisy and calls into question the truth of the gospel which is to prioritize our lives. D. As we strive to live in light of Paul’s warning in this passage we do so in the knowledge that God will provide His Peace, His Power and His Presence to us.
