Providence Baptist Church

Church Covenant

By the grace of God, we have been led to repent of our sin and believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We have confessed our faith and been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Now, therefore, in the presence of God and by His grace, we joyfully and solemnly enter into a holy covenant with one another, declaring this assembly as a local congregation of the body of Christ known as Providence Baptist Church.

We commit, therefore, by the enablement of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian unity and love; to strive for the advancement of God’s kingdom, and the spiritual growth of the church, to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission, and will use our spiritual gifts for the common good.

We further commit by God’s grace and power to live as Christ in the world; to maintain private and family devotions; to biblically educate our children; to seek the salvation of our families and acquaintances; to live righteously in seeking to fulfill our calling to be salt and light in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our agreements, and exemplary in our lifestyle; to avoid all gossip, rumor, criticism, and bitterness; and to be zealous in our efforts to share the Gospel of our Savior and proclaim the glory of God.

We also commit to care for and serve one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to promote Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and to encourage counsel and admonish one another.

We additionally commit to carry out the ministry of this church in the power of the Holy Spirit and in accordance with the principles of Holy Scripture, never allowing traditions or culture to nullify the truth of the Word, which shall be the standard by which all issues of doctrine and practice are to be determined.

We moreover commit that should we leave this church, we will, as soon as possible, endeavor to unit with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this Covenant with other like-minded Christians.
